A hackathon is described as a building sprint where in a set amount of time designers, software developers, engineers and anyone who is eager to participate and to go from an idea to a working prototype.
All participants in the hackathon must strictly abide by our Code of Conduct, which you can read:
The short version follows: “We stand for inclusivity. We believe that every single person has the right to learn and hack in a safe and welcoming environment. Be respectful. Harassment and abuse are never tolerated.”
The Student Defence Hackathon will take place between the 17th and 19th of October in the House of Nature of the University of Latvia.
Any 16+ high school or university student is more than welcome to participate. The hackathon aims to foster a safe learning environment for students and young adults.
This year specific challenge descriptions will be announced during the opening ceremony. Nevertheless, here are the names of the tracks you may expect:
Enhanced mobility – solutions capable of moving defence equipment, supplies, and personnel faster and/or more efficiently in complex and dangerous conditions.
Secure communication and radio technologies for autonomous and robotic systems - communication system solutions that can ensure more effective connectivity, protection against interference and interception, and maintain high communication quality in degrading environments using alternative navigation solutions that are not dependent on GNSS.
